[REVIEW] Psychedelic Meditation by Seamus Anthony
Psychedelic Meditation Reviewhttp://psychedelicmeditation.comSeveral months ago I contacted Seamus Anthony of Rebelzen.com regarding his eBook called Psychedelic Meditation. He was nice enough to send me a copy and I read it all that night. It's a pretty interesting read, very helpful for those new to meditation. It goes over general guidelines, skills and techniques essential to meditation and then goes into detail about his technique for attaining a "cosmic high" as he calls it. While I must say the "trip report" for his meditation experience sounds a lot like a dream, I did experience some very vivid, abstract hypnagogic imagery during my session, or what Tibetan Buddhists call Chi Scenery. They say to go past it because it interferes with the overall goal of meditation but Seamus says "I am a Rebel Zen master, I make up my own rules". He has a good point, not everyone meditates for the same reason. I agree with him, if you want to meditate for the high it brings then knock yourself out.
So I didn't actually get to try out the technique until a month or two after he sent it. When I did I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the results. I have never tried meditating on multiple subjects except when practicing "presence" which is basically just focusing on all of your senses to put yourself completely in the moment. This is different because you cycle through the meditation subjects to constantly keep your mind focused. Normally I just do a mindfulness of breath meditation which definitely provides a nice clear-headed high. The experience with Psychedelic Meditation was quite different. My mind was clear but I also had a great body buzz happening. As the session progressed I experienced some closed-eye visuals (hypnagogic imagery), but unlike normal HI I was fully alert. This made for extremely vivid, yet abstract visuals that I could focus on without them disappearing. Usually with hypnagogic imagery the mind is not as alert and able to "watch it" because you end up falling asleep. I tried again several months later to make sure what I experienced wasn't a one-time thing. After half a dozen meditation sessions using his technique I had pretty consistent results every time. I get a high already from my normal meditations but this is a different experience because I also have closed-eye visuals. With my normal meditation I get the clear headed high and the body buzz isn't as strong.
My only complaints about this book are all the references to getting high and tripping. I understand it's focused on a meditation technique to get you high but it goes a bit overboard on this. If you can look past it and read it for the information that's in it it's a good read worth buying. This book does have a unique meditation technique though and in my experience it has provided great results.
To sum it up, I would definitely recommend this ebook if you want to get into meditation as a means of relieving stress, getting high or if you already meditate and want to try a new technique. The book has great information for beginners and goes into detail about all the benefits of meditation, and as Seamus says - gives you the information you need for a "Mind-blowing Cosmic High".
