Post intro
I see that this forum isn't super active, but there are a couple of regulars so I'll say "howdy".

I just began experimenting with brainwave entrainment about 6 weeks ago. After a trip to Taiwan in December my sleep cycles have been very erratic. I chalked it up to jet lag initially, but after a couple of weeks of bad sleep I started looking for tools to help.

I bought a Sleeptracker watch so that I could wake up at a good part of my (still erratic) sleep cycle. It helps a lot - I get up at a time when I was only lightly sleeping and I feel good in the morning. But, I'm still not getting enough deep sleep during the night and I'm ready for a nap by lunchtime.

I bought some Sleepphones to sleep with. I love them. I wear them so that they cover my eyes. The combination of that blocking light and the tones I play blocking outside noise makes me almost feel like I'm in a sensory deprivation chamber (if I lay very still).

But, I'm not convinced that the tones I'm listening to are helping me any. I consider myself open minded, and I'm not the least skeptical about whether tones can affect people. I concentrate on the tones and wish for them to affect me... but I just don't feel anything.

SO, here I am. I'm hoping to gain lots of great insight from discussions here.

Welcome to the community and I'm sorry to hear about your sleep problems. I'm sorry to hear you haven't been getting much out of the tones and I hope that with time that will change. Meditation is a very good practice to take up and certain disciplines have a tendency to be extremely relaxing which may help you out.

I have been using the tones now for quite some time and I highly recommend GH Sleep . If your a skeptic, so was I but this tone works on me almost 100% of the time . My 12 year old son uses it as well and It works on him . Within minutes he is sleeping . I am amazed at how well it actually does work. Good luck.

Being a beginner in meditation you may feel a bit lost - there is so much information out there on so many different types. The Meditation Bible might be a good beginner book to pick up, and definitely look into The Meditative Mind.

Here's a great, free site to get you started:
