It has recently come to my attention that some of you (I'm not sure how many of you are members of this board or just guests here) have been posting the link to my site on other websites. While I appreciate the effort to spread the word I'd like to say this:
Stop spamming the link to these sites, especially other entrainment sites!

-Today I received several emails from various sites, all were entrainment-based websites, about the influx of spam they are getting. Mainly just telling me that there were members who were registering for the sole purpose of linking to my site. Don't think I don't know who you are, in my cPanel I can see every site that links here, and if i see "forum" i can just click the link and read the thread with the link.

It has also come to my attention that not only are you spamming my link, but you are also BASHING OTHER COMPANIES in these posts. This is a blatant violation of this message board's rules and if found you will be IP banned from the entire site, not just the message board.

Thank you,
Admin

Does it count if I spam my own site? :P

Isn't it good to know, that people love your site, and your tones so much.. that they decided to promote your site for free, where ever they can.

I understand you may have seen this as a negative thing, but you must realise that you can not control your members. If you recieve messages from other boards, telling you that people are putting your link on their forum, then that is a good thing, beacuse normally you pay for advertisement. I personally dont advertise publically on a forum in the form of linking to anything other than something im involved with. But, i know that if my members were so successful in advertising for free, withought even being asked, that other forums were contacting me, i would have a warm feeling. My reply would be something like:

Quote:
"Hello, I am sorry to hear that your site has spam from people, I personally dislike spam also. I also can not control what my members, or members of the public do on other websites or forums, so if you view someone as a spammer, i suggest you deal with it as you see fit. If someone links to a program on my forum too many times, i don't go contacting that company and complaining that its customers are spamming my site, unless i suspect some devious add campaign on the part of the company, in which i would address THAT issue. I respectfully request that you deal with your own problems, on your own forum, yourself."

Or at least thats what i would say to those people who would assume it was my members causing spam. Who knows if it really is members here, maybe its an angry mob who like this site so much they want to give it to the world. Its not their business contacting YOU to complain about THEIR problem.

Do you see my point . Don't get me wrong, I dont agree with spammers, I just dont think it should be your job to try and deal with their spam issues. Do they pay you for this work?
