Post sleep induction tones: volume?
At what volume should I play a sleep induction tone?

Should I turn it up so the tones have more effect? Or should I turn it down so it doesn't keep me awake?

So far I've chosen UP, without much result. I play it the same volume as when listening to music, and concentrate on what I'm hearing. I thought this would make the effect stronger. But, I'm still awake when I hear the end of the track after 30 or 60 minutes.

Am I going about it wrong?

My method is playing it at a low volume, and simply falling asleep to the tone.

I play it at a low volume, just loud enough to hear the pulsing and usually am out within 15-20 minutes.

I sometimes have my fan on, so I tend to put the volume up alot.

Don't put it too loud otherwise you'll detroy you ears.

The key here is to hear the pulsating sound and have it loud enough so you don't get distracted by other stuff/noises.

Noise cancelling is a plus, but not a requirement. I myself have non-noise cancelling earphones and it works just fine.

In Bloodvoyeur's case, the fan noise shouldn't be a problem as long as it's a steady noise. Just put the sound enough loud so you don't focus on it.
