Tones and Dreaming

I started on a pain medication a year ago this past June, 2 of the side effects that I have from it are anxiety and really strange dreams. I started using the tones again just a few days ago and noticed that my dreams have now returned to what I would consider normal, this has been an unexpected effect that I noticed right away.

I hope with the help of the tones to be able to now get this anxiety under control.

I am glad to hear your dreams have returned to normal Breezie, I am sorry to hear about your pain :( To combat the anxiety I would recommend meditation and also yoga, Tai Chi or Qi Gong as a more physical component which would also help with the pain. Tones that may be of interest to you are Relax, Nirvana, Fuzzy, Fusion, Theta 432 and Weightless. I hope you are able to overcome this!

Right now I am curious about positions, I am not able to set straight up for an extended period of time, which is suggested. What suggestions would you have on that?

There are several options here - do you mean you can not sit up straight in any position or just in the more "traditional" positions such as half-lotus/full-lotus/cross-legged? I ask because if you can sit up straight in a chair then this is more than adequate for a good sitting meditation session. If you can not sit straight in a chair then you have several other choices - you can try a kneeling position (though the spine is still kept rather straight here, which may be why you are uncomfortable sitting up) or a simply do it lying on your back. There is an asana known as shavasana or corpse pose in which you lie on your back and it is capable of producing extremely deep states of relaxation, this may be your best bet and if you'd like more information I'd be more than happy to share.

I have read a little about the corpse pose, and that probably would be the most comfortable for me.

I think the floor would be perfect since I spend a lot of time there to relieve back and hip pressure, this might be a perfect time to get into the meditation.

I second that Breezie, it does seem like quite a perfect time - reading is great and quite necessary but there comes a time when you must put all the reading into action and now is the time! I wish you the best of luck, some pointers to keep you on track:
-Don't worry about how much time has passed
-Don't worry about whether or not you're doing it "right" (well, with the caveat that you should be doing the actual physical pose right, this applies more to the mental aspect of focusing/awareness)
-Don't worry about the fact that random thoughts keep distracting you - when this happens just acknowledge it/become aware of it and return your awareness to what you were doing previously

It really all boils down to two simple words - don't worry - as long as you've got the pose right so you're not doing any damage to your body (you'll be able to tell if it's wrong - it will hurt/be uncomfortable) then just don't worry about other things that will distract you, simply notice you've gotten distracted and move on. Even if twenty or thirty minutes has gone by and you're still getting distracted just as frequently as you were in the beginning - don't get frustrated, just acknowledge it, smile and move on.
