Yes, I actually link to it on the index page of the site, I use neuro programmer 2. It's $60 and has tons of features, mind workstation is even better (endless possibilities), but all those features come with a very hefty pricetag. At the moment the only software that really exists is made by transparent corp, but one of this board's members (KendallStation) is working on a windows/mac program at the moment.

Looks like I'll be waiting for KendallStation's software. :P

I am not sure if the process I use for making iso-tones in the software is the proper way to do it. you guys'll have to let me know so I can tweak it as needed.

Hmm, I don't know if anyone else here knows how to do it either. I'll let you know (I'm pretty sure I know it, I'll compare outputs from your program and NP2 files of the same frequency and see if they're similar/the same).

Yeah that's actually another worry of mine, that the frequency registered is not actually the correct one...hmm, well these are the things that have to be ironed out I guess. I am just using sine-wave bursts for my iso-tones (and of course for the binaural beats).

I think I may have figured out how to create the isochronic tones. I use protools and about six months ago began creating binaural beats with a signal generator. I did this by simply creating to sine waves and panning them left and right. From there I could bounce to a CD and listen through headphones.

My interest led me to researching diagrams and pictures, as well as sound bites of the various beats. What I discovered is that the while binaural beats are two different sine waves panned to left and right. (The beat being the difference between the the two frequencies) Monaural beats are just the two sine waves of different frequencies recorded to one mono track. I verified my envelope with picture and audio.

It was difficult to find a diagram of an isochronic tone. There was one vague picture that gave no indication about the phase or structure of the waveform. With a little thought it seemed to make sense why. An isochronic tone is simply a monaural beat with the ends of the crests and troughs removed. By removing th ends, the beat becomes more distinct. Of course the monoaural beats are not all equal in phase and structure so if you want to be perfect about it you would have to find one cycle that contains a perfect beat and remove the excess. Then copy the beat several times. I used strip silence in protools but only to remove the ends of each waveform. I was too lazy or tedious to do the aforementioned. I cleaned up any clicking with a gate. Upon review of the diagram, my waveform matched the general picture and sounded exactly like an isochronic tone at 4hz.

This may be a poor man's solution but I hope it was helpful. Please feel free to offer any suggestions on this process.
